FAVORITE THINGS AT THE FAIR (WMDT--47)

25% of people polled said food.
35% said they can't wait to go on the rides.
25% are looking forward to checking out the Entertainment at the Grandstand.
And 15% said visiting the livestock is their favorite thing to do at the Delaware State Fair.

Wade Shows workers construct the Wave Swinger ride on the Delaware State Fair midway on Wednesday. The fair opens today at 5 p.m.
Silver, a worker with the Wade Shows amusement company, readies one of the game booths for opening day. When she's not traveling, she lives in a houseboat in Florida. Ticket prices this year are the same as 2008, though there are online and advance sales deals.

From Today's New York PostCHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The new owner of a five-legged puppy says the dog has undergone surgery to remove the extra appendage.
Owner Allyson Siegel told WBTV that the amputation surgery was expedited early Thursday morning in part because a Coney Island animal show owner said he was the rightful owner of the dog. John Strong told The Charlotte Observer Wednesday that he planned to file a lawsuit over the matter, saying he had an agreement to buy the dog, Lilly, from a Gastonia man.
The New York man says his show contains "amazing animals, oddities and freaks."
The dog's former owner, Calvin Owensby, sold the Chihuahua-terrier pup to Siegel, who vowed to get the extra leg amputated so the dog can walk normally.

Howard's Mom worked with my Mom at a local Department store in Salisbury back when we were kids.
