FROM HAL GUYON

Just a reminder folks, February 6, that`s only 2 weeks away until we get together for our gathering of circus/
carnival fans and model builders here in Columbia.
We will meet in the lobby of The Jamil Shrine Center at 9:15 AM for the 10:00 AM performance of the Royal Hanneford Circus after which we will have lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch we will go to The Colonial Life Arena in downtown Columbia for the 3:00 PM show of Ringling Bros & Barnum and Bailey Circus.
If you let me know by Tuesday Feb 2nd I can get discount tickets for the Shrine Hannerford Circus and you can get them from me that morning.
My wife works for Colonial Life Insurance, that`s The company that the Arena is named for. She is looking into a chance of getting a private box that the company has there, I will know about this as soon as she finds out, and let you all know. She told me that she has to see if it`s not already taken by one of the company big wigs first.
If we can`t get the box I`m sure we can just get tickets at the door so we can all be together. She also said she may be able to get RBBB tickets at a discount in advance through her company, she will find out more next week.
I will let you all know about this so you can let me know if you`re going to attend. Hope to see you all on the 6th, should be a great day for circus lovers! Hal Guyon

SOUTH FLORIDA FAIR NEWS

At the South Florida Fair, vendors hawk everything from miracle cures to leather goods.
So what's one of the biggest sellers at the 2010 fair? A home safe to store your valuables.
"Nobody trusts the banks anymore," said fair concessionaire Linda Bryan of her booming safe business.
Normally, Bryan sells safes through her husband's Miami-based business, Jim Bryan Safe & Lock. But friends told the couple that the South Florida Fair is a buyer and seller's paradise for merchandise of all kinds. So, the Bryans thought it was worth a try, especially since the home-safe business has been known to flourish in tougher economic times (apparently, when money is tight and banks are struggling, folks like to have extra cash on hand — as long as it's under lock and key or protected by a combination).
From the couple's booth in Building 9 of the fair's expo concourse, they're selling safes in all sizes and styles, ranging in price from $150 to $995. The difference with the most expensive models is easy to see, said Linda Bryan. "They have plush interiors," she noted.
As of Saturday morning, the couple had sold 24 safes. And there's time to sell plenty more: The fair has another two weeks to go.
But after they make their purchase, are fairgoers expected to lug a safe in one hand and a corn dog in the other? Absolutely not, said Linda Bryan. "We deliver," she explained.
