For the record booksWith 97,240 visitors Saturday, the York Fair saw a record for paid attendance on a single day with no sponsored promotion, said Gene Schenck, fair vice president.
"We're tracking to be up 10 percent or more (in total attendance) over last year if we have a great day today, which is what it looks like," Schenck said Sunday afternoon.
"That's remarkable to do that when you have three days of rain and showers on some of the other days."
Livestock entries were up by 3 percent to 1,032 this year, and the fair also tripled its sale of wristbands for all-day riding privileges -- thanks in part to advance sales at Weis Markets, Schenck said.
