Dick, Olin Johnston was a US Senator from South Carolina, my dad knew him well. Dad was also a good friend of Frank Bergen and Gerald Snellens of the old World of Mirth. That was the show I remember so well as a kid, those bright orange wagons, later red, white and blue striped, being unloaded from the train. They played the SC State Fair here in Columbia for years.
