SABU TAKES ANOTHER WALK!

Swiss Travelling Circus Elephant Sabu Stages Her Second Getaway

June 10 (Bloomberg) -- Switzerland’s elephant escape artist did it again. Sabu staged a second getaway in three days from her travelling circus, taking a dip in a stream before being hauled home behind a farm tractor.
The 26-year-old pachyderm, whose impromptu tour of Zurich on June 6 made international headlines, took advantage of Zirkus Knie’s move to Basel last night to briefly saunter away, circus spokesman Niklaus Leuenberger said in a telephone interview.
While it wasn’t clear how Sabu managed to flee her handlers again, she was re-captured without incident and is “fine,” Leuenberger said today. “Luckily, no one got hurt.”
Zirkus Knie’s website now highlights foreign media coverage of Sabu’s weekend wander about the Swiss financial capital. That escape featured a Lake Zurich swim and an amble past the upmarket Bahnhofstrasse shopping area before Sabu was captured.
The Swiss newspaper 20 Minuten showed a snapshot of Sabu being marched back last night trailing a tractor and surrounded by circus workers. Tomorrow’s opening show in Basel has already sold out, the circus said.
