Sault Star - Management from Campbell Amusement spoke with Sault Star on Saturday morning about the accident that occurred on their fair site at the Pee Wee arena Thursday.

Stewart Bell, a manager at Campbell Amusements based in Brantford, Ont., said staff feels terrible about the accident, that involved a young woman who was struck a dislodged piece of a ride off the Zipper ride.

“We certainly feel terribly about the situation. All we can do is apologize to the young lady, and to the citizens of Sault Ste. Marie. I’m sure we will do everything possible to make sure that a situation like this doesn’t happen again," Bell said. "We are very safety-conscious and we take this very seriously. There’s no reason why this type of accident should occur, yet it did."

Const. Joe Poderys, of the Sault Ste. Ste. Marie Police services, said the local police were on scene moments following the accident.

"She was bleeding and we assisted her, until the ambulance arrived," Poderys said.

Poderys added, the police are not investigating this accident, and no charges are being laid.

Despite the accident, the midway (including the Zipper Ride) was fully running on Saturday.
