ANIMAL rights campaigners are planning protest demonstrations when the Great British Circus comes to Clacton this week.

The Captive Animals' Protection Society has called for a boycott of the circus because it uses wild animals.

Director Liz Tyson urged people to "vote with their feet".
But the Great British Circus says its animals are well looked after and denies any form of cruelty.

When the show came to town last year, ringmaster Martin Lacey dismissed criticisms, saying: “We are a nation of animal lovers who know nothing about animals.”
The circus is due at Clacton Airfield from July 24 to August 12.
