Cirque du Soleil brings its 'Dralion' to Richmond Coliseum

Charli K loves seeing the wonder and awe in the faces of audience members during her performance as Little Buddha in Cirque du Soleil’s “Dralion.”
“I have a lot of time to view their reactions as I am working,” she said in a telephone interview from the road. “I believe our job is to engulf people into our world. I try to do that as much as possible — to bring people in so they feel part of the show.”
The show, which plays the Richmond Coliseum Aug. 8 to 12, fuses ancient Chinese circus traditions with the innovative style of Cirque du Soleil. The name “Dralion” is drawn from its two main symbols: the dragon, representing the East, and the lion, representing the West.
