BEIJING — Tickets to the premiere of the North Korean romantic comedy “Comrade Kim Goes Flying” may be hard to get, so it’s O.K. to reveal that the coal miner-turned-trapeze-artist finally nails her quadruple aerial somersault.
Nicholas Bonner, an Englishman based in Beijing, co-wrote and co-directed the 82-minute film with the North Koreans Ryom Mi-hua and Kim Gwang-hun. The Belgian filmmaker Anja Daelemans was co-producer. The first fictional film with an entirely Korean cast co-produced with Western partners and shot inside North Korea, it will premiere in September at the Pyongyang International Film Festival. Ms. Daelemans and Mr. Bonner are hoping it will also screen at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea in October.
