BARKHAMSTED, CT--- One of the last fairs of the season, the Riverton Fair, is back for its 103rd year on Oct. 12, 13 and 14 in the center of Riverton.
Residents will be able to enjoy a wide array of activities from looking at what the many vendors and exhibitors have to offer to carnival rides to hearty, traditional fair food.
Wood chopping and saw and ax throwing will be the highlighted events for the weekend fair days.
There will also be animal and tractor shows, garden exhibits and vegetable exhibits for the community to visit and enjoy.

“It’s always very successful as one of the last fairs of the season,” said Mike Cook, President of the Fair Association.
The fair is a joint town fair sponsored by the Union Agricultural Society of Barkhamsted, Colebrook and Hartland.
“Barkhamsted is pleased to host the thousands of visitors to Riverton and the town who come to the Fair.
“We love the opportunity to showcase our natural beauty, the restaurants, the state forests, the River and the other attributes that make this town special, and we hope that everyone who comes to the Fair will decide to come visit us again,” said First Selectman Don Stein.
Bracelets to enjoy the carnival rides all night on Friday night can be purchased for $20 and $25 for bracelets for rides on the weekend.
The fair will be open on Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Continued...
