Contortionists earn silver and bronze at Rome circus festival

Mongolian contortionist E.Lhagva-Ochir and the contortionist duo D.Tsetseglen and G.Nyamgerel have won silver and bronze cups, respectively, at the 29th International Circus Festival of Rome, known as the Golden Circus Festival.
 The Golden Circus Festival is considered one of the most prestigious international festivals, and is ranked alongside the International Festival of the Monte Carlo.
 This year’s International Circus Festival of Rome was held between December 21, 2012 and January 6, 2013 at the Theatre of Tendastrisce in Rome. Circus performers from all over the world, including from Cambodia, Cuba, Italy, Laos, Mongolia, Russia, Ukraine, USA, and Vietnam, participated in the festival. Italy’s circus performers won the top award in the festival.

 The following is a interview with contortionist D.Tsetseglen about the festival.
 -Could you introduce yourself, please?
 -My name is Tsetseglen Odgerel and I am 23 years old. I work as a contortionist with the National Song and Dance Academic Ensemble. I’m also study accounting at Mandakh Burtgel University.
 -How long have you been a contortionist?
 -I have been training since I was 8, so I’ve been training in circus arts since I was a child.
 -Could you tell us more about the Golden Circus Festival?
 -I am happy that I won the bronze cup from the festival and promoted Mongolian arts, especially the circus arts of Mongolia. The Golden Circus Festival is one of the most famous international circus festivals and has an international A ranking.
 -How many circus performers participated in the festival?
 -Over 60 performers from 13 countries competed in the festival. The festival had 30 shows. It was very competitive as all the participating countries sent their top performers. Mongolian performers competed in two shows and both shows won prizes.

 -You won the bronze cup for your duo performance with G.Nyamgerel. How long have you been performing together?
 -G.Nyamgerel and I have been working together for four years. We first became partners in 2009. She is a contortionist from the Suld Military Ensemble.
 -What other competitions have you competed in?
 -I participated in the International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo in 2010.My fellow-contortionist, Nyamgerel and I, along with nine other girls, performed a contortion show and won a bronze medal. We also participated in the Wuhan Circus Festival in the same year and also won bronze medal there.
