The New Shanghai Circus, an award-winning Chinese acrobatic troupe offering breathtaking stunts and visually stunning feats, is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. March 8 at Kohler Memorial Theatre, 260 School St., Kohler, as part of the Kohler Foundation’s Distinguished Guest Series.
Tickets are $35 and $25 for adults, and $18 and $13 for students, and may be ordered online at kohlerfoundation.org/tickets or by calling the Kohler Foundation at 920-458-1972. Group discounts are available.
The New Shanghai Circus was founded in 1951 and first performed in Kohler in 2005. Modern Chinese acrobats model their act after the ancient harvest celebrations of their ancestors from more than 2,000 years ago, when peasant acrobats would use common items found around the farm and home as part of their exciting performances.
In addition to the public performance on the evening of March 8, the circus will perform a free educational show for Sheboygan County students that afternoon.
The New Shanghai Circus’ appearance is part of the Kohler Foundation’s Distinguished Guest Series. Now in its 69th season, the Distinguished Guest Series maintains the rich local heritage in the arts by bringing world-class performances — live music, poetry readings, lectures and dramatic theater — to the Kohler Memorial Theatre.
