Circus Oz trapezed into town and managed not to fall flat on their faces Sunday in the Elliott Hall of Music. Offering falls from great heights and stunts they warned children not to attempt at home, Oz was fun for the whole family.
Upon entering the hall, the performers were waltzing up and down aisles, greeting guests and asking, “How ya’ goin’ over there?” of the families, couples and elderly that passed down the aisles. The performers showed off magic and conversed one-on-one with some of the elderly members of the crowd.
“(The) whole show is in Australian,” a trio of performers said. “You might want to get a translation if you can’t understand us.”
The show is modeled after the famous 1932 photograph “Lunch atop a Skyscraper,” and beams and costuming were appropriately constructed to lend to the overall energetic city feel.
