MUSKEGON -- This circus is back in town.
The tigers roared, the motorcycles revved and the trapeze artists soared as students from all over the county stopped by the L.C. Walker Arena to catch the 27th Annual Shrine Circus on Friday morning.
The three-ring show has become an yearly tradition for many of the county’s children. Organizers invited schools and special needs students to take in their first show of their stop this year on Friday.

The three-ring show has become an yearly tradition for many of the county’s children. Organizers invited schools and special needs students to take in their first show of their stop this year on Friday.
Steele School in Muskegon was one of them.
Amado Perez’s third grade class, a two-way immersion program, squirmed in their seats and chatted with each other as they waited for the show’s second act.
“This experience for them is the first time for a lot of these kids, so they love it,” said Perez, speaking over the music blaring through the arena. “Coming to the circus is great.”
His student, JaKaia Mitchell, agreed.
“They have a lot of cool things, like juggling and clowns,” she said, as a performer came out with clubs lit on fire.
