Circus theme highlights Saturday activities at Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center

ENID, Okla. — Saturday afternoon promises family fun with a circus theme at Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center.
 Music, a photo booth, magic tricks and circus-related crafts are among the offerings inside the air-conditioned museum, as part of Family Saturday at the Circus 1 to 3 p.m.
 Andi Holland, museum director, said the regional connection of the Campbell Brothers Circus, which formerly wintered near Drummond, was part of the inspiration for CSRHC to bring the temporary exhibit, “Step Right Up! Behind the Scenes of the Circus Big Top, 1890-1965, to Enid.”
All of Saturday’s family activities are free with museum admission.
“We are going to have a photo booth where you can dress up and get your picture made,” Holland said. “We’ll have lots of different crafts for all age groups.”
Coloring sheets and cut-outs and a plethora of activities will round out the things to do on Saturday, Holland said.
“It will be all kinds of fun circus things,” Holland said.
Anyone who has not seen Step Right Up! is in for a pleasure, she said.
 “It really is the first theatrical program we’ve had.”
The exhibit includes historic photos and what circus life really was like.
“For instance, you got two pails of water a day, and you could do with it what you wanted to,” Holland said.
 You could wash your clothes, or you could have water to drink.
 The exhibit will remain on display through Aug. 11.
 The Heritage Center is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
