Two large Oleika
Shrine Circus trucks collided on the U.S. 127 bridge as they headed toward the Frankfort Convention Center to set up for Wednesday’s event.
The northbound lanes of the bridge were closed while emergency crews clean up the wreck, but reopened at about 1:45 p.m.
When the driver of a large blue truck hauling a trailer felt the brakes on his vehicle going out, he called the driver of the white semitrailer ahead of him to warn him, Frankfort Police Department Capt. Rob Warfel said.
Once he realized a collision was inevitable, the driver of the white semi rolled forward in attempt to cushion the blow. Still, the vehicles collided at about 12:05 p.m., crumpling the hood of the blue truck, at the intersection in front of the Capital Plaza Hotel.
None of the approximately six occupants in the vehicles were injured, and the trucks were only transporting equipment, Warfel said.

Frankfort fire and police officials work the scene of an accident on the northbound West Connector bridge near Wilkinson Boulevard after a semi-truck with Jordan Productions out of Las Vegas, Nev., was rear-ended by another truck with the production company which was pulling a trailer Tuesday afternoon. “Thank God there was nothing between the two trucks,” he said. “That could have been a real catastrophe. The fact it turned out like this is pretty amazing.”
At about 12:45 p.m., the white truck pulled away from the accident to make way for a tow truck. The hood of the blue truck and shattered glass and vehicle parts fell to the pavement.
While the bridge was closed, traffic was diverted to Taylor Avenue, causing a line of cars stretching to Louisville Road.
Police Department Maj. Fred Deaton said the names of the drivers have not yet been released.
