Roll up, roll up - the circus is in town!

It’s not every day you get to meet royalty.

No, not that lot with the fancy gates in London, I mean clown royalty.

Traditional touring circus Zippos has signed up the world famous Rastelli Clowns, a traditional Italian act that have been delighting audiences for generations.

And that’s just what they did in Kings Heath  with a rib-tickling mix of music, mirth and mayhem.

They are billed as the greatest clowns of all-time and it’s not hard to see why, old and young belly-ached and my face was aching by the end of the show.

There is a broad mix of entertaining acts with a bit of something for everyone,  performing horses, daredevil trapeze acts, even a contortionist squeezing herself into a bottle.

And let’s not forget MBE Sir Norman Barrett who oversees proceedings as the ringmaster, and even takes a turn as the star act with his performing budgies.

The world record-holding strongman Hercules adds the wow factor with almost superhuman feats of strength and endurance.
