Here's a few more pictures of Conrad and Bunny Pratt's concession operation on Circus Williams Althoff taken in 1993.
THIS BLOG IS DEDICATED TO MY TWIN BROTHER, BILL DYKES (1943-1995). WE WERE NOT ONLY BROTHERS BUT PARTNERS IN BUSINESS AND BEST FRIENDS! AND TO ALL THE "BUTCHERS" THAT HAVE PASSED ON TO THE BIG LOT IN THE SKY!

Dick...Congrats on your blog...it's about time that the candy butchers get mentioned...Hell we put the shows up and down and then we're forgotton. The General Public thinks the kinkers and the clowns did it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I have a funny anecdote about Connie. Pete the Tramp was working a sausage stand for him and they had 2 0r 3 weeks of dead time so Connie tells Pete..."you can stay at my place till we make a spot, that way you won't blow money on a hotel". So Pete agreed, but what Connie forgot to mention was that Pete had to take his mother for a stroll in her wheel chair every evening in downtown Sarasota. Pete reall wasn't into it but he did it.
One day while pushing the wheel chair he stopped at a corner waiting for a red light to change. Asmall crowd of people gathered at the corner waiting to cross. A Mercedes Benz came cruising by...
Pete stared at it and said..."OOOOh Honey, sure wish I had one of them...Honest to God I didn't marry you for your money though !!! The old lady had an umbrella and tried to hit Pete..."Shut Up You Damned Fool" she said. When they got back to Connies House she told him, "Thats it!!! I don't want that S.O.B. pushing me anymore!!
Bob good to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteThere aren't many old butchers left. And garbage guys too!
