ReplyDeleteI remember having a hat with my name sewn on at Palisades Park in New Jersey when on a school trip from NYC.
What kind of machine did they use? I think it is one of those things from the past that would be a big hit today because it would be new all over again.
MIKE ANOTHER WAY OF PUTTING THE NAME ON HATS IS TO USE GLUE AND GLITTER. WE USE TO DO THAT WITH CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS IN THE MALLS.
ReplyDeleteThose machines are such antiques now that you'd never be able to find replacement parts.
ReplyDeleteI use to write with glue & glitter also. There's a legend that a friend of mine from Laredo swears it was true... he says.. he was writing names when a lady came up and said she wanted her daughters name written on a hat. What is it? Fee molly. Thats a strange name. Well she says... I didnt give it to her. When I went to the hospital the Dr. gave her that name, when I woke up she had a bracelet on with her name on it. How do you spell that? he asked.
It's spelled...F-E-M-A-L-E.
As for the Dallas Fair 90% of the garbage & balloon locations were winners... The worst location was over by the chicken barns.
My location was at the corner of Martin Luther King Street across the Midway from "Floyds Chicken Livers" and a wine & beer joint.
It was a tough neighborhood but one hell of a location.
That inflate joint belong to a guy from Louisville called Jerry Owens.
A friend of mine, Tommy Card, had a joint with just bird whistles and snap & pops and he grossed a bundle.
Bobby did you ever know Mike Dinapoli, from Syracuse?
