The circus is coming to town.
Vidbel's Old Tyme All American Circus, owned by Al and Joyce Vidbel of Windham, will be in Oneonta for four shows at 4:30 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at the Southside Mall. The circus will also be in Sidney for four shows at 5:30 and 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Jamesway Plaza.
Jamesway earns a percentage of the gate and will donate some of that money to muscular dystrophy.
Seating capacity for both shows is 1,200. No advance tickets will be sold.
The circus is run on the European concept of one ring rather than a three-ring big top. Animals are the main attraction, including an Indian elephant act featuring three elephants raised by the Vidbels in Windham and performing with the Vidbel's 7-year-old twin granddaughters.
Sharon Vidbel will present a dog act with five Siberian husky pups and two Alaskan malamutes trained to walk on a high wire. Other featured animals are a group of baboons, ponies and llamas.
Human performers are the Zerbini Family, the Lucky Brothers, and trapeze artist Mademoiselle de Paris. Prior to the performance there will be a petting zoo with the circus animals.
