Touring circus stops off in county

HORSES, a clown, Russian acrobats and a violinist who hangs from ribbons made for a spectacular circus opening night.
Giffords Circus rolled into Tackley yesterday for a four-day stop bringing along family favourite Tweedy the Clown.
The traditional touring circus stopped off in Oxfordshire as part of a tour also taking in Cirencester, Gloucester, Lechlade and Cheltenham.
Spokesman Chino Odimba said: “After weeks of rehearsals at Giffords Circus HQ, we are finally on the road.
“With over 70 people in the company, including actors, circus acts, front of house, musicians, tent masters, costume andwardrobe, horse trainers and so much more, the weeks of rehearsing were a well co-ordinated, all consuming, but inspirational time for everyone.”
