HAVANA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese acrobatic troupe has won for the second consecutive year the top prize at Cuba's International Circus Festival, dazzling both audience and jury with their skill and creativity.
In addition to the Grand Prix, the Fuyong Acrobatic Art Troupe also garnered a gold star, the event's equivalent to an Olympic gold medal, local media reported Monday.
Cuban acrobatic troupe Los Ovalerys also won a gold star at the festival, the 14th edition of the annual gathering of circus performers from around the world.
Silver and bronze stars went to Brazilian, Cuban, Belorussian and Swedish performers, while the Popularity Prix was won by the Gauchos from Argentina for their performance using hunting bolas.
The Best Male Performance Award was won by Mexican juggler Christopher Atayde, and the female award by Belorussian gymnast Alena Kulikova.
The festival, titled Circuba 2012, kicked off last Wednesday with performers from 20 countries.
After presenting 29 performances in Havana, the festival will for the first time travel to other provinces across the country.
