How do you make a contemporary circus troupe? Take away the animals and add some rock ’n’ roll. Circus Oz, a pack of Aussie musicians, acrobats, trapeze artists and jugglers, looks like Rent with added backflips, subtracted heroin. The steampunky costumes and set are based on the famous photo “New York Construction Workers Lunching on a Crossbeam,” and the acts are just as breathtaking. 7:30 p.m., 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday; The Smith Center, 361 Symphony Park Ave., www.thesmithcenter.com, $24-$79.
