The 36th annual Indian River Festival continues at Sand Point Park in Titusville this weekend. Festivities include family-friendly entertainment, food and a whole lot of rubber duckies.
The floating ducks will take part in the 14th annual Great Brevard Duck Race, which starts at 1 p.m. Sunday. This is where thousands of “adopted” ducks are set into the river and the first one to cross the finish line wins.
Ducks are available at different branches of Community Credit Union, Florida Bank of Commerce, Florida Business Bank, Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union, Space Coast Credit Union and at select Mobil, BP and Shell gas stations. About 10,000 rubber duckies are available for adoption. It’s $5 per duck. If you buy five, you get a sixth duck free. Proceeds from that benefit Crosswinds Youth Services.
Gates for the festival open at 5 tonight and noon Saturday and Sunday. Features include the Torres Family Circus, an extreme motocross stunt show, local bands, hot dog-eating contest and midway rides.
