THE BIG TOP is up on Paignton Green as circus legend Gerry Cottle brings his new show 'Wow!' to Torbay.
Wow! is quite rightly billed as one of the most exciting circus acts currently touring the UK, with fifty incredible acts to see in just under two hours, including a wheel of death, crossbow shooting, high wire acts, clowns and much more.
I took 4 generations to today's nail-biting, exhilarating and entertaining show that at times had every one of us clinging to our seats. From dancing and music to clowning and magic - the show is well worth the ticket price, and the big top was filled with cheering and laughter from children and adults alike.
The show celebrates fifty years since Gerry Cottle ran away with the circus at the age of 18, with one circus act performing for each year. His children and grandchildren also feature in the show.
The usual favourites are on show with juggling, magic, acrobatics, unicycles and two mischievous clowns keeping you entertained, but the real highlight for us was the breathtaking skill and strength shown by some of the performers. The high wire act and the truly unique 'Wheel of Death' are sensational, and really need to be seen to be believed. As we left, people were already queuing for the next show, waiting to be 'wowed' themselves.
Performances take place at 5pm and 7.30pm weekdays and 2pm and 5pm on weekends. Ticket prices vary between £6 and £20 and can be booked online via www.wowshow.co.uk or at Torbay visitor information centres. The circus leaves town on September 4th.
