Circus Flora to present ‘A Celtic Night Circus’
New show to have four performances Oct. 18 through 21

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — Circus Flora returns this year to the original community where it all began 26 years ago.

The European-style, one-ring circus dinner-theater production of “A Celtic Night Circus: Tír na nÓg” debuts one weekend only in an intimate, blue-and-gold big top tent erected on the northwest grounds of Chesterfield Mall, 113 Chesterfield Center, with new seating options.

The brand-new show, sponsored by Mercy, will have only four performances at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20, and at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. “A Celtic Night Circus” was written and produced specifically for this limited engagement and carries the audience to a mythical land of eternal youth, mystery and revelry.

Audiences can settle in for an exquisite sit-down dinner with dessert and wine — prepared by Michele Coen-Racanelli and Vito Racanelli of Michele C. Catering and Events — as patrons step back in time to the ancient Emerald Isle. The dinner-theater format is brand-new for Circus Flora, and “A Celtic Night Circus” marks the first time that the nonprofit organization has done this.

“A Celtic Night Circus” features such celebrated performers as Sacha Pavlata, Melinda Heywood, The Bertini Family Troupe, Kellin Quinn of Circus Harmony, Claire “The Clown” Wedemeyer and Cecil MacKinnon as Yo-Yo the Compere. “A Celtic Night Circus” is a cutting-edge, nighttime-only performance in a cabaret-style atmosphere. Just added to the cast is Chicago-based aerialist Shayna Swanson, who performed in Circus Flora’s main-season production, “The Wizard,” in June. Swanson will perform her aerial chain act and trapeze act, both new to St. Louis audiences.
