Limited edition Big Tex bobbleheads are back on sale

FAIR PARK — Hundreds of people have asked State Fair of Texas employees: Where can I get a Big Tex bobblehead?
The $20 figurines have been sold out since Big Tex burned down the last weekend of the State Fair, but another shipment should arrive by Christmas, said Jim Morrison, program director for MainGate Inc. and keeper of the bobblehead scoop.
The figurines first made their national -- nay, international -- debut after Big Tex burned down. In memorial photos, the little statues of Tex showed his head a-bobbin', big grin on his face, in honor of the fallen 52-foot Big Tex.
They were sold exclusively during the State Fair, starting "six or seven years ago," said spokesperson Sue Gooding. The toys seem like perfect fixtures for vehicle dashboards or trinkets for cubicles.
This year's commemorative bobblehead honored Big Tex on his 60th birthday, with a yellow and pink cake by his side. The crop of 500 bobbleheads were almost gone when Big Tex burned down. Then, all were snapped up and the fair stores even began selling leftover bobbleheads from past fairs.
Don't let eBay fool you with a $26 price tag for the 2012 60th anniversary Big Tex bobblehead; the toys are $20 online at bigtexstore.com.
Equine performers organize new show at Del Mar Fairgrounds after ‘Valitar’ folds

Kenneth Wood, Linda Harris, Julie Krone, Sylvia Zerbini and Richie Waite gather at the home of Melisse Mossy (far right) on Nov. 26 to share support for the former cast of "Valitar" and discuss their upcoming show, "Liberté."

When Rancho Santa Fe producers Mark and Tatyana Remley pulled the plug on “Valitar” the day before Thanksgiving, the 25 performers of the horse-human acrobatics show were left unpaid, many with no place to stay or way to get home. The show’s 45 horses were also either removed or left without tack or hay.

All having trained for months, and many having dropped everything to move from overseas to Del Mar for the year-long commitment, the performers are still processing the real-life nightmare they’re living. However, they haven’t lost focus of their real dream — to put on a world-class show — and they’ve turned the situation into a “phoenix rising from the ashes story,” as Melisse Mossy described it at a Nov. 26 support gathering for the performers at her Rancho Santa Fe home.

Sylvia Zerbini, a performer and director of equestrian affairs for “Valitar,” with several of the horses from the “liberty” act.
At the gathering, attended by local horse lovers and notables such as world-renowned jockey Julie Krone, the former performers of “Valitar” — once housed in the red, 45,000-square-foot tent erected at the Del Mar Fairgrounds — announced that they have secured a spot at the fairgrounds for a new show. “Liberté” — a show based on humans’ silent communication with horses — is tentatively set for Dec. 7-9 at the fairgrounds equestrian arena.

Lack of attendance continues for UniverSoul

For an entertainment act, such as a circus, with performers and organizers primarily of the African-American community filled with color, culture and spectacle not to receive the proper respect in an urban area like Savannah from the very same people it was designed to entertain and honor is shameful.

The UniverSoul Circus revisited Savannah on November 22 for four days, performing two shows per day. The scent of fresh kettle corn and funnel cakes filled the air in the National Guard Armory, where the circus was hosted. Music poured through the speakers and excitement hovered in the air.

The Universe Soul Circus is a compilation of the African American culture compiled with urban music, theatrical dance, and acrobatic stunts.

As lights dimmed and music rose, a ballerina hit center stage wearing pink point shoes and performed a lyrical-inspired ballet piece. The show continued with the introduction of ring masters, and this year’s special ring master was Comedian Shucky Ducky from late-night stand-up comedy shows that air on BET.

Contrary to the popular belief –that African-Americans  are incapable of starting on time– the show started on schedule at 11:30 am.

In a venue that holds over 200 people, guests were shocked by poor attendance. Only 20 people were seated when the show began.

Crowds of people began to rush in 30 minutes into the show with blatant disregard for the show and the audience.

WGN is bringing back Bozo, at least for a little while.
After being alerted to the existence of a rare 1971 recording of "Bozo's Circus," WGN decided to broadcast it as a special called "Bozo's Circus: The Lost Tape." WGN's Dean Richards will host the special, which is set to premiere at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 on WGN-TV Chicago and streamed live for viewers outside the Chicago area on wgntv.com.
The Bozo show aired for 40 years on WGN, from 1960 until 2001. Only a few episodes from the show's first two decades have been archived, the network said. No Bozo shows from 1969 to 1974 were thought to have survived exist until recently when one was discovered at the Media Archives & Peabody Awards Collection at the University of Georgia in Athens.

12 Stupid
from:  petslady.com
Sometimes the best gift is the box it came in, which isn't really saying anything good about the gift-giver but hey, good boxes are hard to find these days. Todd Lawson takes the concept to a new level with his “Pet Petter” box. Just when you think you and your pet are going to get the Worst. Gift. Ever. comes the realization that it's just a gag box. Anything inside has GOT to be an upgrade. (Stupid Pet Gift image via The Presurfer)
