THIS BLOG IS DEDICATED TO MY TWIN BROTHER, BILL DYKES (1943-1995). WE WERE NOT ONLY BROTHERS BUT PARTNERS IN BUSINESS AND BEST FRIENDS!AND TO ALL THE "BUTCHERS" THAT HAVE PASSED ON TO THE BIG LOT IN THE SKY!
I would like to go on record: The first thing I noticed was the typo underneath the photo, it should read Dick and Bill, not the other way.
Just so you know that I know my brothers!
The cobra came out about 72-73, if I recall, I thought it was a neat ride, but this is not in my area of expertise.
The article could run today with the mention of people spending their money in different ways due to the economy and the high cost of gas and groceries.
Funny, but back then we didn't see all the teenagers walking around with wires and headphones hanging off their head with at least one cell phone in a hand and the keys to a car that momma and poppa bought them.
We didn't have everybody with cable or satellite at home and a cell phone for everyone in the family and two cars that are LEASED sitting int he driveway. Those new "extras" has got to sap several hundred dollars out of the household discretionary income every month. We also have $4.00 coffee, laptops galore, and ATMs which charge $3. to get to your own money.
And here in the Naughton Family, we know better...we just upgraded 4 phones, added 2 ipods and a new MacBook. My feeble excuse? It is going to make us a more productive company.
We don't have to be more productive because none of the customers have any money. They are home watching cable, talking on their phones and listening to their ipods! They can't go anywhere cause the second leased cat got repoed; they couldn't afford the gas, anyway. Momma and Poppa couldn't take a second job because they are on the computer hooking up with other stressed out adults.
Remember, I still know my brothers! What happened to the Cobra?
