SALISBURY, Md. - Heidi and Cassidy Herriott are a mother-daughter pair who are part of a history of circus performers with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus.
Among the animals they handle are miniature horse Lucky Star and their golden retriever Cinnamon.
Having spent so much time with the animals while on the road, the Herriotts say the bond is very strong. "They're part of our extended family, and all of the animal trainers with the circus and presenters, we live with our animals 24/hours a day," said Heidi Herriott. "We see 'em all day long, we hear 'em snore at night, we know when they're feeling good just like people."
Her daughter Cassidy said, "It's a lot of fun to work with them, and so sweet to go up and give 'em a big hug right before the act."
