Associated Press Bellevue Rejects Permit from Circus
Bellevue has rejected a permit application from the Carson and Barnes Circus to hold shows at Bellevue University.
The City Council voted against the permit on Monday. No one from the circus came to Monday's public hearing.
The circus, which has been criticized for its treatment of animals, wanted to come to Bellevue in June.
Some residents wanted the circus to come to town, saying it would be a boost to the economy. Resident Chuck Frederick urged the council to give the circus a chance.
