Mt Pleasant, MI---Like almost all of the dogs that perform in Circus Pages, Charlie doesn’t mind having a bath
In fact, he was all for it Sunday afternoon as workers were getting the circus ready at the Clare County Fair in Harrison.
Kayla Earhart, the 9-year-old daughter of James Earhart and performer in the circus’ “Globe of Death,” called Charlie to a green plastic wagon, and the poodle gladly jumped in to get a shampoo and rinse.
Charlie’s task during circus shows is to push a small “kiddie” car containing another of the circus dogs.

As Kayla bathed Charlie, the other dogs waited for their turn with the hose as employees put together the big top for aerial acts, daredevils, animal acts, clowns and more.
Circus Pages has an uncommon “tabby” tiger, along with white lions, white tigers, camels, horses, ponies and elephants.
Based in Myakka City, Fla., Circus Pages is performing two shows daily at the Clare County Fair at 3 and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Most people who go to the circus like to see the big cats and the elephants, Earhart said.
Lions and the more rare white lions attract a lot of attention, he said.
“White lions are very rare,” Earhart said. “There are only two circuses that have them.”

Acts are changed up in every performance, which lasts 45 minutes.
The only constant is the cats and elephants, who appear in all the shows, Earhart said.
Aerialists, jugglers, dogs, horses, ponies and camels each have turns in shows as well, Earhart said.
Earhart, who is also the ringmaster, rides his motorcycle in the Globe of Death, but that is a stand-alone attraction at the fair, Earhart said.
Aerialists in Circus Pages include Kayla, who has been performing since she was 5.
Kayla also rides in the Globe of Death but not during shows, her father said.
Kayla was trained by her aunt, Freida Pages, and also rides elephants.
Freida’s daughter, Colleen Pages, is the tiger trainer, Earhart said.
Colleen is one of only two women who work with big cat acts, he said.
Other dogs in the circus include Jack Russell terriers and other breeds that do back flips, backstands, hurdles and high dives, Earhart said.
