Different circus visits Fenway today. With elephants!

Some have called this Red Sox season a circus thanks to Bobby Valentine and the loveless 69-93 record, but the real circus starts tomorrow. But before they take to the ring, some of the elephants visit Fenway today at 4:30 for an art project.

Kids from the Jimmy Fund Clinic and their families will participate in a painting session on the field with students from Lesley University’s Art Therapy Program. Instead of brushes, the kids will use their hands and the elephants’ feet to create art work that will be donated to the Jimmy Fund Clinic.

It’s been almost 100 years since pachyderms visited Fenway Park. According to the Boston Post, on June 6, 1914, Molly, Waddy, and Tony arrived in Boston to take up residence at the Franklin Park Zoo, thanks to a coin drive by Boston-area kids. Thousands of kids and their families, former Boston Mayor James Michael Curley, and Governor David Walsh were at the park to welcome the trio.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Fully Charged is at the TD Garden October 10-14.
