PEMBROKE, NC — The National Circus of the People’s Republic of China will perform Cirque Chinois at the Givens Performing Arts Center at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
The troupe was founded in 1953, making it one of the longest running circus troupes in China.
According to Tasha Oxendine, director of marketing for the Givens Performing Arts Center, the performance is distinct.
“This award-winning circus-stage event has very unique acts in their program such as the grand flying trapeze, group contortion, straw hats juggling, girls’ balance with bowls and many other outstanding acts,” Oxendine said.
