REMEMBER THIS ONE? (From Mike Naughton)
The Flying Cars were a German-made ride built for Chicago's great Riverview Park in 1954. Riders were strapped into a small car inside a large rotating barrel. As the barrel would rotate, the riders could use a small foot brake which would allow the car to stop rolling and go a full 360 with the rotating barrel. Sounds fun! Unfortunately, someone failed to properly fasten their safety belt and was killed after falling out. That was the end of the Flying Cars. Sadly, Riverview closed for good in 1967.
