Perfect weather and signs of a recovering economy drew a large crowd to Main Street in Van Buren on Saturday for the annual Old Timers Day Arts & Crafts Festival.
Several hundred merchants displayed their wares for shoppers and browsers alike. Items ranged from what you would expect to see at such an event to more unusual items like a merchant selling a wonder glue.
Other vendors were selling and sampling their custom created sauces and spices. Several artists had booths to sketch real time portraits or airbrush on a tattoo. This being an election year, several booths were dedicated to candidates seeking public office.
For those not interested in shopping or wanting to take a break from it, there was kettle corn, lemonade, ice cream, snow cones, corn dogs and other carnival-type fare to eat and drink.

Entertainment for the young and young at heart was facilitated by All American Amusements of Little Rock that had amusement park rides and booths at its carnival. Musical performances entertained the crowds from the stage set up by the Old Frisco Station.
The event continues on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. rain or shine.
