The Independence Day holiday weekend kicks off today at Farmers Market in Pleasanton, at the Dublin Heritage Park and Museum dedication and with continued fun and horseracing and even a giant burger feast at the Alameda County Fair, which is also now under way.
In fact, history could be made at the fair today as an attempt will be made to grill a 625-pound hamburger that would be the world's largest commercially available hamburger.
Cooking such a large burger might seem to be a frivolous endeavor, but fair organizers say it is for a good cause, as individual bites will be sold for 99 cents, with the proceeds going to the Alameda County Community Food Bank.
