"BACK IN THE DAY"




Alredo Codona and Lillian Leitzel were two of the most famous circus performers in 1930.  Their life stories, however, were marred by tragedies related to their work.

In the 1930s, Clyde Beatty was a popular circus performer, most famous for a "fighting act" which featured Beatty and several wild animals.  He was also known for his training and taming of lions.
 In this photo, circa 1932, we see him at work.
