SALEM, VA --
Due to the oppressive heat, the 25th annual Salem Fair will be open from at 4 – 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 8th.   The fair was set to open beginning at noon.
Fair Manager Carey Harveycutter, Deggeller Attractions President Don Deggeller and other members of the fair's management team are all In agreement that this is the best step to take for the patrons and workers alike. They told WSLS it is hard to keep people hydrated in the heat and early afternoon attendance, when temperatures rise, was down.
Storm Team Ten meteorologists say in Ronaoke Saturday we hit a record high of 102 and forecast Sunday’s temperature at 99 degrees.
We’re told fairs across the country are cutting back their hours in the midst of high temperatures.
The fair continues through July 15thand the forecast calls for cooler conditions beginning on Monday.
