Hugo to host TV show casting call on Oct. 29
from---durantdemocrat.com
October 20, 2012
A new television series is looking for big talent in small towns, and one of their first casting calls will be just an hour’s drive away in Hugo.
The Hugo Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting open auditions for “Road Show” on Oct. 29 at the Bill Grant Civic Center in Hugo. The auditions are for a “new, unscripted original series” featuring local talent from small towns. The AMC network gave a green light to the project in September.
Local organizers of the one-day casting call are inviting people from surrounding communities to participate and “get the chance of a lifetime to be in the spotlight.”
Dave Hinkle, President of the Hugo Area Chamber of Commerce said that he hopes to draw talent from area towns, including Durant.
The casting company has limited participants to anyone age 18 and up. Beyond that, the sky’s the limit. They are looking for regular folks (in their words, “the town mechanic, baker or candlestick maker”) who are “passionate about their craft.”
Specific talents being sought include, but are not limited to “magicians, jugglers, dancers, singers, comedians, ventriloquists, musicians and more.” Holding a casting call in Hugo, one of America’s premiere circus homes, will help the talent pool. But Durant has more people – therefore more talented people – who could answer the call.
As with most contests of this type, incentives include Hollywood mentors working with finalists, and cash prizes for top finishers as well.
The Road Show casting call will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29 in Hugo. Bill Grant Civic Center is at Fifth and Rena streets in Hugo, and can be reached by taking US 70-B (Jackson Street) into Hugo and turning left (north) at the Fifth Street traffic light. BGCC is at the end of North Fifth Street.
For more information, call the Hugo Area Chamber of Commerce at (580) 326-7511 or email frazier@kasstinginc.com.
