BONITA SPRINGS — Once again, for a Thanksgiving weekend treat, Cole Bros. Circus of the Stars entertained S.W. Florida with its international cast of daredevils, aerialists, acrobats, jugglers and exotic animal performers during the 127th edition of their event.
The Naples-Fort Myers Greyhound Track located in Bonita Springs had a slight change of color this weekend. A large 29,000 square foot red and yellow tent stood 45 feet tall and could be seen for miles. What was found under the tent was quite amazing.
The excitement began with hundreds of Circus lovers gathering under the big top rising to their feet for the National Anthem. This was followed by Ringmaster, Chris Connors bringing them a show like no other as trainers Judit and Juergen Nerger awed the fans with an assemblage of Royal Bengal Tigers.
The "biggest" stars of the evening were the Asian Elephants who danced and performed to the delight of the audience. There were even elephant rides that all ages lined up for.
Throughout the evening a variety of clowns entertained everyone with their comedy and balancing, acrobatic, aerialist and thrill performances that made the audience hold their breath.
Chris Bryant, 11, of Fort Myers stated “this is definitely the best show I’ve ever gone to” while Chris’s dad, George Bryant added the usual “It’s the greatest show on earth”.
As the evening came to a close, all eyes were on Jose Bermudez as he burst from the barrel of The World's Largest Cannon. This proved to be the perfect way to end the Thanksgiving celebration with family and friends for all who attended.
