The Fédération Mondiale du Cirque awarded René Casselly Junior and his Elephants a Special Prize for his outstanding performance at “New Generation” a new competition for young artists hosted by Monte Carlo Festivals. The award was presented at the conclusion of the competition on 5 February 2012 by Mr. John Le Mare of Australia, Secretary of the Federation’s Board of Directors. Mr. Le Mare chose 16 year old Master Casselly for the award on behalf of the Board because of his incredibly skilled acrobatic performance on moving elephants and his impressive rapport with both the animals and the audience.
"This was a masterly display" said Mr. Le Mare, "combining sympathetic and sophisticated presentations of both elephants and horses with his own charm and confidence."
The Caselly family, which also performed with horses during the competition, was chosen by the professional jury to receive the highest prize of the competition: the Junior Golden Clown. Days before the family also received the Golden Clown, the top award of the 36th Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo.
