WOODSTOCK — Spread out on 49 acres is a Labor Day tradition that has just about anything you could ask for — from sandcastles to sausage subs, from horses to Holsteins.
Spread out on 49 acres is a Labor Day tradition that has just about anything you could ask for — from sandcastles to sausage subs, from horses to Holsteins.
The 152nd annual Woodstock Fair, held every Labor Day weekend, began on Friday and concludes tomorrow. The fair is sponsored by The Woodstock Agricultural Society and draws throngs from across New England to admire antique tractors and cars; sample fairground delicacies such as fried dough, fried Oreos or french fries; enjoy carnival rides and midway games; or participate in agricultural competitions or go-cart races.
One of the biggest draws is the Barnyard Babies exhibit, where cows that are due to calve are brought so fairgoers may witness a live birth. As of Saturday, there were six calves born at the fair this year. Also present are ducks and ducklings, goats and kids, and alpacas and crias.
