DELAVAN, Wis. - Lake Lawn Resort is partnering up with the Delavan Historical Society to welcome the Carson and Barnes Circus to Delavan for two colossal shows at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sun., July 28. The traveling show will stage a one-day-only production on the grounds of Lake Lawn Airport, formerly home to Wisconsin’s original circus, Mabie’s Circus and Menagerie.
Lake Lawn is excited for the opportunity to host the Carson and Barnes Circus and restore their property back to its former use, at least for one day. “The historical significance of Mabie’s Circus and Menagerie is something we want to celebrate with our guests and the Delavan community,” said Lake Lawn General Manager Dave Sekeres. “We hope that bringing the circus back and reliving all the big top traditions will be a magnet
for area guests.
The traveling circus crew of 100 plus people will park their 26 semi trucks on Lake Lawn’s grounds on Sunday morning, beginning the speedy setup process immediately upon arrival. Starting at 9:30 a.m., the general public is invited to watch as the big top rises up from the ground and transforms Lake Lawn’s grounds, accommodating over 1,500 spectators, plus elephants. A midway will also welcome visitors outside the main tent with a free petting zoo, as well as camel and elephant rides available for purchase.
