'Circus in the City' hosts charity show

On Friday, more than 1,500 wards of the State were treated to a charity showing of the 'Circus in the City' event organised by the Main Event Group. In conjunction with the Child Development Agency (CDA), children from homes all across the island, including Clarendon, St Mary, St Elizabeth, Kingston and St Andrew, Manchester, St Catherine, Portland, St James, Trelawny, and Westmoreland, were transported by bus to the National Arena for the 2 p.m. show.

Prudence Barnes, public relations and communications manager of the CDA, was more than pleased with Main Event's kind-hearted gesture.
"CDA thanks Main Event and all the sponsors of Circus In The City for the tremendous act of generosity shown to some 1,500 children in state care. The agency always welcomes opportunities to expand the life experiences of the children, as this supports their growth and development." said Barnes.
SOS Children's Village, St John Bosco, St Monica's and Mustard Seed were some of the homes from which the children came.

Through sponsors such as Tropicana Tropics, Holiday, Tastee, Kremi, Tropishades, Digicel and Jamaica Urban Transit Company, transportation was provided free of cost and entry to the event was also free. At the event, the NCB Foundation covered the cost of meals for the children and gave them special T-shirts.
Tropicana Tropics provided giveaways during the show and the brand also featured an item in the light show by Light works, they gave away baskets of goods to the children.
Some of the highlights of the circus were Myth, a group that performs a mix of comedy and acrobatics; the Shaolin Dancers; Kaifeng Acrobat Troupe, and Professor Crump.
Circus in the City showcased a range of whimsical talents that included impressive acrobatics, aerial artistry, thrilling stunts and humour. Patrons were impressed with a world-class stage production, complete with an outdoor Circus Village featuring exciting circus games and treats, which the entire family certainly enjoyed.
There were six shows in all and Solomon Sharpe of Main Event was ecstatic at the outcome.
