THE FOLLOWING MOVIE HAS NO SOUND!

A tour of Coney Island amusement park in the 1940's. (From Mike Naughton)

Dick-Since Ringling is in Coney Island till Labor Day, your viewers might enjoy a look back to the Coney Island of yesteryear.Back then they had HAWAIIAN TROPICAL DRINKS, today we have SMOOTHIES. They had unusual people, today we turn the television channel to Medical Incredible to see folks that are too fat, too thin, too tall, really short. They even had a great title for one guest, "The Half Ton Teen", it sounds like Ward Hall is writing the copy. Kids love the merry-go-round but the lustre is a little dull since the shopping centers have carousels and video games. There is a nice segment on the CYCLONE, the world's most famous roller coaster. I was told that tickets to the Cyclone are $8.00 each. Mike Naughton

CHINCOTEAGUE: Illegal charters put on notice for pony swim
CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. (AP) — When the ponies make their annual swim from Chincoteague Island later this month, the Coast Guard will be patrolling the waters for illegal boat charters.
The swim draws thousands to Virginia's Eastern Shore to view the wild ponies as they make the 200-yard swim between Assateague Island in Maryland and Virginia's Chincoteague. The event also attracts an armada of observers.
The Coast Guard advises visitors July 29 they should make sure any boat they charter is operated by a license captain.
The Coast Guard will use shallow water response boats to create a safety zone around the ponies during the annual swim.
The pony swim was made famous by Marguerite Henry's 1947 novel "Misty of Chincoteague."
