The Ring of Fire ride included a major overhaul this year by Butler Amusements, which runs the carnival rides at the Silver Dollar Fair. Midway coordinator Jim Hull explained that 4,000 LED lights replaced the former incandescent lights on the ride, bringing the fair ride from 200 amps to 23. The cost to replace the lights was $25,000. Butler Amusements taps into electricity when feasible, and also runs off of generators for the far corners of the fairgrounds. "It all boils down to that this is the future of lighting in all industries. I believe we are on the cutting edge," he said. (Jason Halley/Staff Photo)
