Allentown Fair roars through Monday
The heart of the Allentown Fair is the agricultural component, with poultry and pigs and cows in residence at the livestock barn at the west end of the fair.
But fair's west end features lots more animals of a different kind. Just a short walk away, on the other side of the Agri-Plex, are the lions and tigers and ligers of the Big Cat Encounter. At the fair for the first time, it's a show and educational exhibit with a lot of roaring.
Next door at the Farmerama Theater, rescued dogs are performing feats of skill in the Extreme Canine Stunt Dog Show.
And near the poultry building, pigs are doing more than rolling in the dirt. Robinson's Pig Paddling Porkers are racing in the water.
At 1 p.m., kids and adults can pretend to be animals at the Barnyard Olympics, featuring hog calling and cow-mooing and more.
Of course, animals aren't everything. There are rides and games and music and magicians and comedians and food demonstrations.
The fair runs through Monday. Go to http://www.themorningcall.com/allentownfair for the schedule.
The fair is open 1-11 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6; free, under 12.
