From The Ruskin News-Observer
Thousands turned out on Saturday for three big shows under the big top as the annual Showmen’s Charity Circus made another appearance in Gibsonton. The circus, which has a long tradition in South County, included a midway with treats and rides, clowns, trained animals, aerialists and other amazing acts, and an old-style 16-piece circus band. The event provides a unique opportunity for children (and children at heart) to experience the thrills and chills of a traditional circus of yesteryear. In the photos, children roll in the surf of a huge pool of water inside large inflatable balls; the popularity of the charity circus is evident as long lines form for the main event; an aerialist performs under the big top.
