After watching stunt performers leap and flip off tall platforms onto a big yellow air bag, Santa Maria brothers Jeff Snyder and Josh Epps felt ready to join them.
“I liked it how they just like pretty much went for it,” Snyder, 15, said Wednesday, the first day of the Santa Barbara County Fair. “I’d definitely do it,” he added. He and Epps, who is also 15, said they were considering signing up for stunt fall classes available between shows at the fair’s Movie Stunt Adventure attraction.
I just really liked the jumping part and I liked how it’s so easy for them and it’s like second nature,” Snyder continued.
“It was really cool,” Epps said. “I mean, I want to get up there and do it too ... I want to do a back flip, make it a little more razzy dazzy.”
There is no shortage of innovative, interactive new attractions at this year’s at the county fair, taking place through Sunday at the Santa Maria Fairpark.

In addition to the Movie Stunt Adventure Attraction, the 2012 fair features the Our Rainforest Friends Animal Show and exhibit and the Kids Pedal Tractor Pulls competition.
Kevin Ridgeway, stunt coordinator with Movie Stunt Adventure, said the attraction shows fair-goers how some action scenes are filmed for movies, and allows them to try the skills themselves.
“Typically at fairs, there’s some really cool rides, but everything is being done to you,” he said. “Here, you actually get to do it and you have to make the decision to jump.”
