The circus is coming to Douglas.
The Douglas Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with various local merchants will be bringing a circus to Douglas on Tuesday, April 23.
Chamber President Susan Kramer said last week on the Voice of Douglas the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus will have two shows at 5:30 and 7 p.m.
“They are a traditional American circus under a big top,” Kramer said. “We’re hoping everybody comes out. It promises to be a great show. They have clowns, animal acts. Before and after the shows there will be game booths; jumping castles, etc.”
The tent the circus performs under weighs 3600 pounds and is 120 feet long by 80 feet wide. It is 30 feet tall at its highest point. It is divided into three sections.
The event will take place on the empty lot on First Street and F Ave.
Presale tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for kids 3-12. The day of the circus the prices increase to $13 and $7.
Tickets are on sale at Southwestern Carpets, Jay Everett Jones Realty, El Chef and the Douglas Visitors Center.
